How can you tell?

How can you tell if your almost 3 year old son is going to be a Boob man?

I have the answer to that question...

Turn on the television and wait for the Playtex Bra commercial to come on.

I was watching a show on TV last night when my darling son came into the room at just the same time as a commercial for Playtex Bras came on. I don't think anything of it so it never occurred to me to possibly change the channel.

He stopped what he was doing and was staring at the TV. All of a sudden I hear

"Wow"

come out of his mouth!!! The commercial ends and he looks at me and says

"Wow that was cool"!!

I was in total shock. Have the teenage years hit and I missed everything else? Where is my baby? Who is this kid?

I immediately called Kris and ask him what he has been teaching our son? Of course like any married man would do, he denied teaching him anything.

I am still in shock.

I am getting old...

Where the heck did time go? How could it possibly have gone by so quickly?
25 years ago today I gave birth to my first born child, a son named David.

He was a day later than expected but well worth the wait. He was good kid, I couldn't have asked for better...until the teenage years hit. Oh those teenage years were a killer but somehow I survived! Even though I have lots of gray hairs courtesy of this child of mine, I still love him dearly and I am so glad I have had him in my life!

Some pictures of my baby through the years.

Stop

Ever feel like you are stuck on a ride and can not get off. Yes I feel that way today and I do not like it one bit. I feel stuck.

Disappointed.

I am so glad I did not tell Zack about the Thomas event today because he woke up with a cold. You know the typical runny nose and cough. So I opted not to take him and expose all the other children that may be there.
I don't want him to be the cause of another child getting sick.

I am disappointed because I know he would have had a blast!

Trains, Trains and more Trains

Yesterday we went to walk around the mall. You know to get out of the house and see something other than these bare white walls.

I told Zack before hand we were not buying anything so don't ask. He asked for a cookie but was told no and he dropped the subject quickly.

We kept walking then he says "mom, that book store has trains to play with." ( I swear he can sniff them out a mile away). I said something to the effect of oh that is nice now lets keep walking.

We get about halfway back around and he puts his hands together and in that oh so sweet voice he says

"May we PLEEEEEEASE go in the book store and play trains?"

Now how could I turn that down?

So we were in there for more than a hour so he could play trains. Mind you they only had 2 trains on the whole table but I guess that was good enough.
Hey wait how come just 2 are not enough at home? How come we have to have at least 25 on the table or a melt down may happen?

Just this morning I found out about a Thomas the Train event at Toys R Us tomorrow so you know where I will be. This kiddo of mine is obsessed with Thomas. He has been awake for 4 hours now, and 3 of those 4 hours he has been at his train table playing.

If only he is that passionate about school work when he gets a bit older.
I can dream can't I?

He loves me, He loves me not, He loves me!

Last night I heard Kris get home from work and of course Zack ran to meet him at the door.
I heard Kris whisper something to Zack but didn't hear what it was.

A second later Zack comes running into the kitchen
"Mommy, Happy Vowentines day"
as he is handing over a half dozen yellow roses. They are pretty.

Kris said they are not for Valentines Day they are Happy Mommy flowers.
It doesn't really matter what they are for, I love them!
These are the first flowers I have gotten in a very long time, so long in fact that I gave away my vases to Goodwill years ago. Soo...
these very pretty roses now reside in a not so pretty Smuckers Grape Jelly jar. LOL.

Dating a younger man.

Let this be a warning to all of you who think dating a younger man is so great.

Today being Valentines Day I went out on a date with a much younger man. I did not want to sit home on this special day while my husband is out of town, so when this gentleman asked me to "go somewhere" I said sure.
(Honey you don't mind me dating another while you are away do you)?

Dating someone younger has its disadvantages.

I got stuck driving because his jeep is in the garage.

These male creatures can be a bit immature and only think of themselves.

First he wanted to go to the bookstore. I thought sure I could browse the books I haven't been able to read in a long time. Well that didn't happen. He was busy in one section and kept telling me to wait and that he wasn't ready to go yet.

Then he wanted to go get a work out in before lunch. Apparently he does not know I am to old to be doing all that running?

After that work out he knew he would never be able to wait until we got to the restaurant so he was a bit immature begging for a cookie to hold him over. The nerve of him eating both cookies that I paid for.

We finally make it to the restaurant, get a table and he can't make up his mind what he wants to eat. Rather than hold up the waiter any longer I placed the order for both of us. The food comes and we are having a good time but boy he sure did ask a lot of questions. I was barely able to answer his questions before he was asking another one.

The waiter put the bill on the table and he never even attempted to pay for it. I wound up footing the bill. By this time I was a little tired so we went back to my place. We weren't even there 15 minutes and he fell asleep. I guess he had a late night last night.

So just to let you know if a younger man asks you to "go somewhere" you just may want to think about it before jumping at the chance.

Although I will continue to go out on dates with this gentleman.
(Even when my husband is in town)!

He is the most precious 3 year old a mom could ask for.
Yes I spent quite a long time waiting in the bookstore while he played trains, and yes running around the play area is not my idea of fun but I will do it again just for him. Yes I did let him eat both cookies before lunch, trust me when I say that never happens but it was a special day. And even though I had to drive and pay for the cookies and the lunch it was a great day.

So great in fact that after he woke up from his nap he told me "Mommy I had a great date with you!"

Do you hear that?
That is the sound of my heart melting...

Zing Zang Zoom!!!

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Presents
Zing Zang Zoom.

We went to the circus today!
It was the first time I had ever been so I was excited.
We waited until this morning to tell Zack that we were going. It is easier that way. Of course he had never been either so he didn't know what to expect.
We went to a morning show so he wouldn't be so tired and grumpy by the time we got there. He was excited walking around the coliseum. What kid wouldn't be... with all the booths selling all those flashing things and tons of stuffed animals and toys.
We all had great time. I think Zack liked the tigers the most...
but then again he did chow down on that pretzel!
Kris took pictures so if I can get them loaded on to his computer I will post some later.

Music and Motion

Now that Zack is no longer in Speech Therapy I signed him up for a music and motion class that meets once a week for 45 minutes. I figured we needed to do something other than always being in the house. Yesterday we went to the first class. He liked it so much that for the next few hours after class he just kept telling me "mommy we go back to music class next week". He also told Kris he was going back next week.

This morning I was singing one of the songs from the class and he politely informed me not to sing because "we sing that in Music". I think it is more like he does not like my singing. LOL

I asked him what his favorite part of the class was and he told me he liked being an airplane. Not only do they sit and sing but they are up moving around running around the room being silly. As small children should be every once in a while.

I do not think I saw any child walk out of there yesterday without a smile on their face. How great it that?

Hush little lady

I had to bite my tongue today because I know I would have went off on that mean mouthy woman in the grocery store today. I have had a long week and my temper is getting short so I knew if I didn't bite my tongue trouble would have followed, and I do not need that happening.
I won't go into it as to why but I will say people need to keep their mouths shut when some thing does not involve them.

What a great give away

If any of you have houses like mine, then you know fresh fruit and veggies tend to go bad before they get all eaten.
I logged in today to Jane4girls blog and she is having a great give away for containers that help solve that problem.

Because everyone needs a good laugh.

Another day... Another loss.
(of brain cells that is).

I will go ahead and let you all have a great laugh at my expense today.

There has been so much laundry being done around here the past few days that I can't seem to keep track of how many loads I have done.

Yesterday I was on the one millionth load (just a slight exaggeration), when I took the clothes out of the dryer. I threw them in the basket so I could fold them while sitting my lazy butt on the couch. I then took the clothes from the washer, put them in the dryer, turned it on and started to leave the laundry room.

At that moment I stop dead in my tracks, A light bulb suddenly appeared over my head. I turned around and shut the dryer off. The clothes that I had just pulled from the washer and put in the dryer never actually were washed!

I went the motions of putting them in the washer, added the detergent, closed the door but never turned the darn thing on. I just moved them right over to the dryer not even paying attention to the fact they did not feel wet!

What was I thinking?
(Apparently I wasn't!)

Story is over you can stop laughing now.

Sickies.

Zack and I have been sick the past couple days. The other night was not a fun one to say the least.
Zack appears to be feeling better but I am not quite there yet.
I have to give lots of Kudos to Kris for being so tired from working both of his jobs then coming home and dealing with all that he did that night.

Zack funnies

Zack: Daddy play trains with me.
Kris: No I have other things to do right now.
Zack: I aspect (expect) you will!
Mommy sitting at the table laughing butt off, Kris standing there in shock.

You know you use a word to much when your nearly 3 year old starts using it.
Out of the blue "Mommy you a slacker."
I still can not figure out what I did to warrant that one.

We were out and about the other day and all I kept hearing was
"Mommy we go to Arbys for lunch."
"No Zack"
"Mommy we eat Arbys for lunch."
"No Zack"
For the 100Th time ...
"Mommy we eat Arbys for lunch."
"No Zack we are not eating Arbys for lunch, we are going home and eating lunch at home...then we are going to take a nap."
Zack was in the backseat with K the little girl I babysit for and I hear "K, Mommy being naughty to me!"
So I guess I am the worst mommy because he did not get to eat Arbys that day.
